We’ve added a few staple items to the arsenal, all of which are made with our signature sustainable fabrics, are ethically produced by our friends and artisans in Bali, and have undergone the lowest impact production processes we know of.
They’re items that are designed to be purchased once and worn forever - not chucked to the wayside after a season of wear and tear.
Speaking of sustainability through the language of art
To capture the magic of our collection, we’ve had the immense opportunity to work with artist Andy Wauman.
Working with analogue film, Andy’s creative expression is romantic yet edgy, elegant and full of metaphors. When one reads his mission statement as an artist, it’s easy to ponder over the political element of his work, he prefers to present himself less as a political activist and more, as he puts it, a “poetical terrorist”.
We were drawn to working with Andy because we felt his unique way of creating images could act as a powerful vehicle to spread our ethos of sustainability in fashion and living a life that aligns with nature - not one that’s in conflict with it.
Armed with Andy and his camera, we took some bikinis, a long fabric, and eco denim numbers out for a spin in Bali’s great outdoors. The results of Andy’s work from that day are utterly inspiring; double and triple exposures which overlay elements of nature, the animal world, and beautiful human adorned with our own designs. Humbled and a little in awe, so we are.
.. I believe in the world like I believe in a marigold,
Because I see it. But I don’t think about it
Because to think is to not understand...
The world wasn’t made for us to think about
(To think is to be sick in the eyes)
But for us to see and agree with...
I don’t have a philosophy: I have senses...
If I talk about Nature, it’s not because I know what it is,
But because I love it, and that’s why I love it,
Because when you love you never know what you love,
Or why you love, or what love is...
Loving is eternal innocence,
And the only innocence is not thinking...
