A lot of people ask me about my nutritional plan, and I am kind of tired of hearing them say "Yeah sure, but you have plenty of time to do all that for me thats IM-POSSIBLE!¨.....I am going to share with you something I like to do at home to feel energized, thats perfectly healthy and not time consuming at all.

I am not a Dr nor do I want to be but I believe that what we consume is our best medicine. That is why I studied, conscious nourishment, alkaline diets, Ayurvedic and Taoist philosophy...but mostly I listen to my body to see what works best for me.

It is true that everyone's day is different, but to start a day with a good asana practice, work and go surfing it is so important to be well nourished, oxygenated, with an open mind, centered and at peace.

I believe in getting out of bed and taking a few minutes to myself before I connect with the rest of the world. 15 minutes to stretch and do some breathing exercises, a quick shower that ends in one minute of cold water and I am ready to start the day as the best version of myself.

A good smoothie saves time and has all the nutritional benefits we need to feel at our best....for the office or for the beach... and to top it off you can take it anywhere with you and drink it when your body most craves it.

These are the ingredients that are must haves:
Take note...

  • Almonds, hazelnuts, cashews, walnuts, pecans.
  • Dates, dried apricots, goji berries.
  • Chia seeds, sesame seeds, flax seeds, hemp seeds, psyllium husk.
  • Raw Cacao powder (with no added sugar)
  • Coconut oil or Ghee butter.
  • Tahini, Almond butter or peanut butter
  • Non dairy milks (coconut, almond, oats or whatever you prefer)

  • If you store everything in glass containers it is easier to make different smoothies when you can see all of your ingredients.

No matter what different combinations you make, I assure you they always turn out delicious and are always really filling.

Today I made this;

A small handful of Almonds, some raw cashews, 2 dates, a few goji berries, one spoon full of raw cacao, one spoonful of hemp seeds, half a spoonful of psylium husk and a small splash of coconut milk.

Delicious, filling and extremely nourishing.

Depending on the seasons I sometimes like adding some fruit (strawberries, mangos, banana, acai...) Or even half an avocado, thats always a good recommendation as it has the good fats that keeps us going throughout the day.

No sugar, that wont help you at all and only cause a rise in insulin, creating energy that doesn't last very long, in the best case scenario you will feel hungry shortly there after if you don't have a sugar crash and break out in cold sweats.

You can always play with dates and bananas to sweeten things up a bit, if you have problems gaining weight, Stevia is a really great option too ( I personally do not like it but it protects the body from glucose fluctuations and sweetens things up)

I don't need to tell you much more, try it and let me know how it tastes.... Don't look for excuses because you will always find them, and remember you don't need to do a full yoga class or breathing exercises for two hours, a simple 15 minutes a day dedicated to yourself and you will notice a difference in your day.
